On February 16th, the Faculty of Islamic Law at the University celebrated the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) known as El-Mawlid Al-Nabawi in a special celebration that was organized at Martyr Zafer Al-Masri Auditoriums at the Old Campus. Attendees included the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, Dr. Jamal Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Law, members of the teaching staff and students.

The celebration started with verses from the Holy Quran recited by a student from the Faculty of Islamic Law. Dr. Kilani gave a speech in which he said that the Prophet’s birth brought mercy upon human beings and that his message has enlightened the life of people ever since. Muslims celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad every year on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal month on the Islamic Calendar.

Prophet Muhammad is the source of inspiration for the Muslims; from him they get strength and belief. His birth was the message that moved the Arabs from darkness to enlightment.  His message called for the worship of Allah, to possess good morals, to spread equality among humans and lead them to build a successful life.

Dr. Kilani also called upon the nation to look at this anniversary as a motivation to restore the glories of the past and instill the great Islamic values and love of Allah and the Prophet in the new generation.

A band from the Faculty of Islamic Law presented many songs about the Prophet and his birth. A documentary film was also presented that described this major event in the history of Muslims and the world.
