The Tunisian Ambassador to the Palestinian National Authority Visits An-Najah and Expresses Admiration by its Advancement
Lotfi Mellouli, the Tunisian Ambassador to the Palestinian National Authority, praised the educational system and teaching at An-Najah University during his visit to the University on Wednesday, February 8th. The Ambassador was received by Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah, at his office at the Old Campus where both sides discussed prospects of mutual cooperation.
Prof. Hamdallah familiarized the guest with the University, its history, development, the different faculties it has and the wide range of study fields it offers to the students. Moreover, he valued the support by the Tunisian Government of the Palestinian Authority and people in different fields especially higher education. The President emphasized the University’s concern with developing its relationships and cooperation with the different universities in Tunisia and hoped that both sides would sign cooperation agreements in the future that would bring mutual benefit to both countries.
Mr. Mellouli thanked Prof. Hamdallah for the hospitality and emphasized the historical relationship between the Palestinian and Tunisian people and said that his country is supporting the Palestinians to achieve freedom. He also mentioned that the Tunisian Embassy is working hard to activate and reinforce the relationships between the two countries with respect to education.
During his visit also a short documentary was screened which explained the University’s stages of development and advancement with respect to education. The Ambassador also visited the Media Center at the New Campus and expressed admiration by the advanced equipment and capabilities available there.
As part of his visit, Mr. Mellouli delivered a lecture to the students of Political Sciences at An-Najah in which he spoke about the Tunisian democratic experience, the recent elections in Tunisia and the achievements of the Tunisian revolution. Mr. Mellouli explained to the students that the Tunisian people have shown their refusal of oppression and tyranny and decided to fight their way through to achieve freedom.
Attendees to the lecture included Dr. Mohammad Hanoon, Vice President for Community Affairs at An-Najah, Professor Anwar Dudin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations Department, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Ahmed from the Faculty of Medicine.
At the end of his visit Prof. Hamdallah presented a souvenir to Mr. Mellouli in appreciation of his honorable visit to An-Najah.
