The Third Meeting of the Golden Age Forum Community Service Center

The Golden Age Forum, which began at the onset of this year in partnership with the Multipurpose Community Resource Center (MCRC) and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Nablus, organized the third monthly meeting in the MCRC's center in the old city neighborhood of "Habs Ad-Dam". The Golden Age Forum targets elderly women and men living in the old city, the majority of who live alone and often below the
poverty line.

This meeting was unique in that it coincided with the eastern date of Mother's Day. The session began with the presentation of a short video of a speech about Prophet Mohammad's life given by a young Turkish girl. Afterwards, a discussion of motherhood was held and a representative of An-Najah University Radio interviewed women with insights and comments for the occasion of mother's day. The group shared sweet and savory pastries with tea as they watched comedy videos compiled by the program coordinator. Finally, a lecture about education in child rearing and how to raise children to love knowledge was given by a member of the MCRC staff, Aroub Jemleh. This event was made possible by the Goodwill Forum, a charitable group who sponsor the Support for Elderly program of the Community Service Center. The group looks forward to next month's meeting in which they hope to take a spring field trip.
