On April 6th, the Student Branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at An-Najah University hosted a delegation from Isra’ Company for Programming and Computer in a workshop titled “Software Market in Palestine and the World”. The delegation was first received at the office of the Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at An-Najah, where the Dean thanked the Company for its interest to contact the Faculty and its students. The workshop was held at the Conferences Room at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence, New Campus, where Mr. Mahmoud Ahmed, Director of the Sales Department at Isra’, gave a speech followed by another speech by the Company’s Executive Director, Mr. Jamal Ballout, who spoke about the work market and the qualities and skills that graduates need to be ready for the work field. Mr. Isam Hamayel, Director of the Programming and Development Department at Isra’, first spoke about the Company’s various departments, its products, the technologies they use to develop their software, the work sectors that it targets and the category of customers they deal with. Moreover, Hamayel spoke about the international work market with respect to investment in programming and software such as APP Store and OVI Store, as well as Google and Youtube applications. Additionally, he spoke about some of the international contests in the field of programming such as the IEEEXtreme which is held annually on October under the sponsorship of the IEEE branch at An-Najah, in addition to Microsoft Contest “ImagineCup”. Hamayel concluded by stressing the importance of participating in similar activities as they help develop the students’ skills and aid them in their quest to get familiar with the local and international markets. In the workshop also, a team from the IPcreations Company which included Mr. Adel Jadallah and Mr. Mu’men Shabaroo spoke about their work in developing applications for the IPhone; they also explained the programs they used in order to develop these applications, as well s the different ideas related to applications in the IPhone and the IPad. Muhammad Zaidat, Head of the IEEE Student Branch at An-Najah, said that this workshop is part of a series of similar workshops offered by the IEEE branch to familiarize the students with the different applications of their majors in the local, regional and global markets. He also thanked the delegation from Isra’ Company for their time and participation in this event.
