Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah University, received in his office Mr. Naofumi Hashimoto, Representative of Japan to the Palestinian National Authority. The President welcomed the guest to the University and introduced him to its infrastructure, the faculties, scientific centers, academic programs and others.

Attendees to the meeting included: University President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs, Dr. Anwar Dudin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Waleed Basha, Head of the Microbiology and Immunology Department, as well as Dr. Khalil Issa, Assistant Dean for Clinical Sciences Phase.

Furthermore, Prof. Hamdallah valued Japan’s support to the Palestinian people in the different fields especially academic ones, as well as its continuous support of the Palestinians’ rights to self-determination and the establishment of its independent state.

The two sides also discussed possible cooperation between the University and the Japanese Government, in addition to the needs of the National Teaching Hospital and the stages that have been finished so far.

Mr. Hashimoto thanked the President for his welcoming and assured that the Japanese Government and people will continue to support the Palestinian people in the different areas of life. Furthermore, he said that Japan seeks to establish strong and special relationships with Palestine and hoped that peace would be achieved in the region so that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state would be made true.

The Representative also visited the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the New Campus in addition to the National Teaching Hospital where he was introduced to the latest developments and construction works that have been accomplished so far in this facility.

At the end of the visit Prof. Hamdallah presented Mr. Hashimoto with a Souvenir in appreciation of his honorable visit.
