The Public Safety Committee at An-Najah Concludes a Training Course on Safe Handling of Technical and Sudden Elevator Malfunctions
The University-based Public Safety Committee concluded a training course for a number of employees and workers at the University through which they were trained on the safe handling of technical and sudden malfunction in elevators. The course was held at the Old and New Campuses as part of the cooperation between the Committee and the Department of Civil Defense in Nablus.
Trainees included: The Public Safety Officer at the University, employees at the different scientific centers, and a number of maintenance, security and services employees. The trainees were trained on how to safely deal with all technical malfunctions and the possible ways to avoid the risks that result from elevator accidents. Key trainers were Dr. Amer Hammouz, Rapporteur of the Public Safety Committee, and Mr. Shukri Ghallaini, Public Safety Officer at the University.
The course addressed several key issues including: Theoretical aspects of safety and prevention, how to provide a safe atmosphere, and how to deal with people that are trapped inside disabled elevators. The course also included a practical training to test the degree of skill and ability the trainees have reached.
The Public Safety Committee at An-Najah has held a number of training courses that aimed to provide the trainees with skills in firefighting, rescue missions, first aid, and evacuation of University employees and students.
