In cooperation with the Journalism Department, The Public Relations Department organized a meeting through video conference with Örebro University in Sweden. The meeting, which was organized by  Mr. Zafer Tayseer, from the Public Relations Department and Dr. Ronald Stanbridge, the Head of The Department of Journalism at Orebro University.
At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Tayseer welcomed the participants from both sides, the discussion revolved around many issues that fall within the concern of the students of both universities. One of the issues that were discussed in the meeting is the relationship between the Palestinian journalists and their western counterparts. The main obstacle that students of journalism face in the Palestinian universities, especially An-Najah`s students, who are subjected daily to various types of persecution on the check points on their way to the university, were also discussed. Along with a number of issues that have to do with the nature of journalists` work in the Palestinian Territories and the restrictions on their movements to cover events, as a result of not being able get an entrance permit were discussed, as well. The participants of the meeting discussed the various means through which Palestinian journalists work and their use of websites in conveying the Palestinian issues to the world.
Dr. Nabil Alawi, the Director of the Public Relations Department, emphasized the importance of such meetings in giving an international feature to the relationship of An-Najah National University with the European universities. Dr. Nabil added that the university always seeks to strengthen its ties with western universities as it did with the Arab world and Arab universities.
Dr. Abdel Jawad, the Head of the Journalism Department, emphasized the role that such meetings play in giving the students of journalism a chance to know the culture of their counterparts in other universities. This will add to their knowledge and give them the necessary experiences that they will need in their career after graduation.
On his part, the Head of the Journalism Department at Orebro University, Dr. Ronald Stanbridge, emphasized the importance of such meetings in getting Swedish students to learn more about the Palestinian point of view, which is completely absent in western media. Also he emphasized the importance of his visit to An-Najah National University last month, in improving cooperation between An-Najah and Swedish Universities and helping to sign more academic agreements between them.
