The People with Disability Care Office at the University Inaugurates the Vision Exhibition
On June 26th, the People with Disability Care Office at An-Najah University an art exhibition under the title “Vision” for the two students, Abdullah Hamad (A student with disability) and Muthir Hasan. Hamad is a graphic design graduate from Hisham Hijjawi College of Technology, while Hasan is an engineering graduate from the Faculty of Engineering at An-Najah.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah University, and Mr. Ghassan Anabtawi, Director of Aqarat Company for the Management of Commercial Complexes. Attendees included: Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Hanoon, Vice President for Community Affairs, Dr. Jalal Dabbeek, General Coordinator of the University’s scientific centers, Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations Department at the University, Mr. Samer Aqrouq, Director of the People with Disability Care Office, in addition to a number of Faculties’ Deans, Heads of Departments and students.
“Vision” included graphic designs, architectural designs, photography, in addition to some architectural models and various art paintings.
Mr. Aqrouq said that organizing this exhibition came to stress the idea that disability can not and does not limit a person’s potentials and creativity. On the contrary, given the chance and support those people can produce things that are creative and beautiful. He also explained that the University aimed through this activity to highlight its message of integrating people with disability into their society and giving them the chance to play their role in their environment.
Prof. Hamdallah thanked the two students for their creative work which he saw at the exhibition and assured that the University is concerned with providing all kinds of support to this group of people especially students in order for them to participate actively in the society. He explained that the University has established a special computer lab for the visually-impaired students to enable them get their chance to benefit from modern technology.
Also, Prof. Hamdallah mentioned that the University adopts the employment of people with disabilities policy through which it seeks to employ them inside and outside the University.
Hamad thanked the University President for his visit to the exhibition and his support of this activity which would give them and other students motivation to continue their activities and work. Mr. Aqrouq thanked the University and the sponsor company for their support and called upon all local institutions and companies to provide support to this group of people so that they become active contributors to the development of their society.
The exhibition aimed to develop the creative thinking among the Palestinian youth and direct their efforts and potential toward serving their society.
