As part of “Think Tek” Campaign and the “Net Ketabi” project that aim to support and develop personal and technical competency, the Partners for Sustainable Development (PSD) and the Office of the University President for Graduate Affairs at An-Najah organized a workshop titled “It’s Time to Implement my Project”.

The workshop was administered by Engineer Ala’ Shaheen who is currently studying at An-Najah. Ala’ has won a training opportunity at Singularity University (www.singularityu.org) on her project about the integration of information technology into medical data and patient support system in April 2011.

Her project aimed to build a social network that supports patients and enables them to practice their favorite sports and provides diabetes patients with medical data about their conditions; it also connects those patients with a special database through their doctors who will follow-up on their condition.

Ala’ also spoke about the PSD and its different activities to develop education and integrate it with information technology. Moreover, she spoke about Singularity University and its international role in supporting and developing pioneering individuals. She explained the University’s goals and interests in integrating technology in the different activities to develop the life of people and find innovative solutions for the various problems that people encounter with respect to health, education, energy…etc. Ala’ also described the different departments and staff as well as its various programs of study.

Through its work on the “Think Tek” campaign and “Net Ketabi” project PSD (www.psdpal.org) seeks to develop and support the Palestinian personal and technical competency. It works continuously to support creative and pioneering projects and programs that target the development of the society. The PSD focuses on young people believing in their important role in sustainable development in Palestine. It has also launched its first initiative called “Call for Innovation” in April 2011 through which it calls upon the students to work on creative technological projects that seek to provide solutions to various problems in Palestine.

PSD is currently working on preparing for the second “Call for Innovation” competition in Palestine, and plans to coordinate with Engineer Ala’ to prepare different workshops at the Palestinian universities so as to offer students  a chance to showcase their innovative projects and ideas.
