On April 18th, the Office of Scholarships at An-Najah University organized a meeting for the University’s top students from the different faculties and departments. The students met with the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, Dr. Khaled Eleiwi, Scholarships Coordinator, Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations Department, as well as a number of faculties’ deans.

First, Dr. Eleiwi welcomed the University President and valued his efforts to support the University’s tops students; he also congratulated the students for their excellence and hard work to make such accomplishment.

On his part, Prof. Hamdallah spoke about the scholarships that the University offers and emphasized that this issue is among the issues which the University supports substantially since An-Najah invests in education and is preparing a strategy to build the next generation of employees. Moreover, he described the programs that the University offers which lead to Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees in various fields of study.

He also spoke about the scholarships that the University offers to its students through which they will be able to pursue their higher studies abroad in the world’s top universities. Prof. Hamdallah encouraged the students to seek knowledge and excellence in education so that they would have the chance to be qualified to scholarships.

After that, Dr. Eleiwi gave a presentation about the scholarships offered by the University to the top students and emphasized that the aim of this meeting is to involve them in the building process of the academic staff. He also explained the mechanism for applying to Master and PhD scholarships saying that the specializations that the University needs are first identified in cooperation between the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs and the faculties’ deans, then the scholarship is announced after which the applicants’ list is studied by a specialized committee. Finally, the applicants are interviewed; nominees are then sorted and distributed among the available scholarships.

Dr.  Eleiwi also said that An-Najah sends its students to pursue their study in a number of countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, Canada, Korea and other countries with which the University maintains twinning relationships with respect to scholarships.

Moreover, he spoke about some of the available scholarships including the scholarships offered by Lancaster University, the British Council Scholarship (Hespal), the Joint French Scholarship, the Italian Cooperation Scholarship, Erasmus Mundus scholarships, the DAAD scholarships, the Peace Program scholarships, the scholarships offered by the Australian government, scholarships by the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, in addition to other scholarships that the students can find at An-Najah Office of Scholarships. Dr. Eleiwi also spoke about the requirements that the applicant must meet in order to qualify to a scholarship such as the IELTS and the TOEFl scores.

At the end of the meeting, discussion was raised between the students, Prof. Hamdallah and Dr. Eleiwi regarding the available scholarships.
