The University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, received a Norwegian delegation in his office in the old campus. The delegation included Mr. Leif Johan Sevland, the Mayor of Stavanger accompanied by representatives of the Norwegian government, a journalistic delegation, and representatives of Norwegian universities.

Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the delegation and gave a brief presentation about An-Najah National University and the academic programs it offers. On his part, Mr. Sevland thanked the University for receiving the delegation and praised it for its role in improving the Palestinian community.  The mayor stressed the importance of joint cooperation between An-Najah National University and Stavanger city, represented by its universities. He also spoke about the special relationship between his city and Palestine, especially the city of Nablus.

The academic cooperation between Stavanger and An-Najah National University, the academic exchange of students and University's faculty members for the purpose of improving the higher education programs, and conducting projects that contribute to the peace process in the Middle East were discussed during the meeting.

The possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of journalism, the exchange of expertise pertinent to journalism, and offering grants to Palestinian students to study at Norwegian universities were also discussed.

After the meeting, the delegation was taken on a tour around the new campus, where they saw first-hand the newly constructed buildings and research laboratories.
