The Libyan Ambassador to Jordan Meets the University President
On January 20th, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, received in his office at the Old Campus Dr. Muhammad Al-Barghathi, the Libyan Ambassador to Jordan. The Ambassador’s visit aimed to discuss the prospects of mutual cooperation between Libya and Palestine and to become familiar with the reality of higher education in Palestine on all levels.

Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the guest and valued his visit to the University which indicated the degree of solidarity that the Libyan people show towards the Palestinians. He also presented a summary about the University’s history, development, achievements, the majors it offers and the faculties it contains. He appreciated the support that the Libyan government provides to the Palestinian authority in different fields, especially higher education. He assured that the University is deeply concerned with maintaining and developing strong relationships between the two countries.
On his part, Dr. Al-Bargathi thanked the President for his hospitality and emphasized the importance of the historical relationships between Palestine and Libya. He said that his country is always in support of the Palestinians and their cause. He also stressed the necessity to develop the educational and academic relationships with the Palestinians to achieve more development in the educational process in Palestine.
A documentary film that described the University’s long history of development was presented to familiarize the Ambassador with the University’s different stages of progress. Dr. Al-Bargathi also visited the New Campus where he was introduced to the different faculties and facilities it has, including the Faculty of Physical Education and Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Theater.
He also visited the Faculty of Fine Arts where Dr. Hasan N’erat, the Faculty’s Dean, spoke about the different majors that the Faculty offers to students, explaining that art is the birthplace of civilization and the preserver of heritage. He explained that the Faculty aims to reinforce the theoretical and academic thinking of the students along with providing them with practical training and application.
Dr. Al-Bargathi expressed his admiration by the level of development the University has achieved over the years and hoped that more cooperation would be established between the two countries in the future.
