The Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence at the University Finishes a Training Course on Surveying

On June 6th 2010, the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence (KPITIE) at the University finished a training course on surveying. The course included different topics related to surveying principles, the special devices used for the measurement of distances and vertical and horizontal angels, as well as the identification of coordinates, the introduction of modern surveying equipments such as the total station which is a theodolite with an electronic distance measurement device (EDM), and the GPS (Global Positioning System).

Dr. Khalid Barham, the Director of the KPITIE, mentioned that a number of workers and employees from the Ministry of Local Government and the Palestinian Land Authority as well as students from the Faculty of Engineering at the University participated in the course. He added that the course was specially designed to meet the needs of governmental institutions that are related to land surveying and for those who want to specialize in this field.
The course focused in the first place on giving the participants the chance to conduct practical and field work so as to learn how to use surveying devices and techniques and combine that with their theoretical knowledge.
