The Karramarro Taldea Band Performs a Musical Show at the University
On April 27th, the Public Relations Department at An-Najah in cooperation with the Spanish Consulate General in Jerusalem organized a musical show for Karramarro Taldea Band from Spain at the Martyr Zafer Al-Masri Auditorium, Old Campus which was attended by many students and employees.
The Band presented a number of musical pieces that reflected the culture of the Basque which is located north of Spain. The Spanish musicians presented various musical shows that revolved around the “kalejira” musical art, a type of street art.
In addition to the musical show a film titled “Winds from the Desert” was displayed which told the story of a musical journey to Syria in search of the kind of music that reflects the way of life people live in the area where this music prevails. The film described the musical folklore in the Gypsy area in Homs, Andalusian Stanzas in Aleppo, Druze Folklore in Druze Mountain and the Aramaic music in Ma’lola.
The best poem and the best short story in Spanish were distributed among the University’s students.
