The International Federation of Medical Students Associations Holds its Second Annual Assembly

On March 28th 2010, the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) held its second annual assembly at the University. Prof. Anwar Dudin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University, Dr. Malek Sabboubeh, Coordinator of the IFMSA, and several instructors and students attended the meeting.
In the meeting, Dr. Dudin expressed his pleasure to participate in the event and emphasized the significant role of the IFMSA in supporting medical students in different countries. Dr. Sabboubeh highlighted the University's support of the Federation and encouraged medical students at the Faculty to join the IFMSA and benefit from its programs.
Dr. Omar Abu Zaideh, the IFMSA's Chairman, thanked the University for its support of the Federation and mentioned that the IFMSA is planning for a number of projects in the near future. In the meeting also, a short video that depicted the history of the Federation, its programs and projects was presented to the attendants.
The meeting consisted of a number of sessions that covered specific topics such as public health, the anti-smoking campaign, medical education and International Health Day. The participants also discussed the most important projects that the Federation is going to implement in the future such as the anticipated IMSTAR (Internship for Medical Students in Action for Refugees) project. This project will be implemented in cooperation with Jordan and Netherlands.
Other topics included reinforcing the clinical and research exchange program so as to include a wider range of medical students. At the end of the meeting, students participated in a training session in which they were trained on a number of skills such as leadership and project management skills. By the time the meeting was over, more than 35 students from the Faculty had joined the Federation as new members.
