August 19^th 2010. Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University, received a media delegation from the US Consulate General in Jerusalem. The delegation was headed by Mrs. Arlissa Reynolds, Information Officer and Consulate Deputy Spokesperson and included also Mr. Pedro Martin, Information Officer Assistant in addition to Mr. Naser D'aies, Information Affairs Consultant and Mrs. Hasnah Al-Dujani, Information Assistant at the Consulate. Attendees also included Dr. Atef Salama, Dean of the Faculty of Media, Dr. Ayman Al-Nimer, Director of the Media Center as well as Mr. Ala Abu Dheer, the Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at the University.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Abu Eid welcomed the delegation and presented a brief summary of about the University, its development stages, the different faculties it contains, particularly the new Faculty of Media. He also spoke about the Media Center that was opened recently and familiarized the guests with the latest technologies that the Center employs and the various facilities it includes.

Dr. Salama stressed the importance of exchange in the filed of media and information between the University and the Consulate which involves the exchange of media professionals, for example, from the United States. Such cooperation will enable Palestinian journalists and media students to have the chance to interact with professionals in this field and thus expand their expertise and sharpen their skills.

Mrs. Reynolds, on her part, expressed her desire support cooperation between the University and the Consulate and showed a great interest in the new Faculty of Media and the variety of facilities it has. She also took the chance to congratulate the University on the recent ranking it received by the Webometrics which ranked it first in Palestine, fifth in the Arab world and number 1160 internationally.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Faculty of Media and its new center where they were introduced to the latest developments and new services that the Faculty provides to the students. Dr. Al-Nimer presented a detailed description of the new Faculty and its center by speaking about the building stages, the reasons behind establishing this faculty and the different units that it contains. On this, Mrs. Reynolds expressed her admiration by the many advanced services and state-of-the-art units that the Faculty includes which ensures that the students are being professionally trained and educated.

Mrs. Reynolds also met with Dr. Khaled Alaiwi, the Director of the Projects Unit at the University as well as Dr. Hussein Ahmad, the Director of the Opinion Polls and Survey Studies Center and discussed several issues related to projects management and opinion polls and survey studies in Palestine.

At the end of the visit, Mrs. Reynolds expressed her gratitude to the University and its Administration for organizing this visit and mentioned that the level of development and progress that the University has achieved so far is highly impressive.
