The Head of EU Commission to the Palestinian Authority visits the University
Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of the University received in his office onTuesday 3rd March, Mr.Christian Berger, the Representative of the European Commission to the Palestinian National Authority, accompanied by Mrs. Judith Johannes, the Education, Health and Cultural Officer at the EU office in Jerusalem.
The meeting was also attended by President Assistant for International Affairs at An-Najah University.
Prof. Hamdallah highlighted the importance of promoting relations between the institutions of higher education in Palestine and their counterparts in the EU, and underscored the importance of the continuous support of the European Union granted to the educational sector.
Prof. Hamdallah indicated the importance of EU programs such as Tempus and Erasmus Mundus that open opportunities between An-Najah academics and students with European counterparts.
The EU Head of Mission and Mrs.Johannes were accompanied to a tour in the New Campus, visited the Faculty of Engineering where they have met with Professors of different departments. Two different student inventions were shown to the guests: one is a robot and the other is a solar system invention. The guests also toured some labs and had a briefing on the type of work and challenges faced by both academics and students.
At the end of the visit, President Hamdallah thanked the guests for their visit to the University, while they have shown admiration in the sophisticated facilities at An-Najah.
