The Google Technologies User Group in Nablus Organizes an Event at An-Najah on the Android Operating System
On October 5th, the Google Technologies User Group (GTUG) based in Nablus organized its first event at An-Najah University under the title “Your First Steps to the Android World”. The event aimed to introduce the GTUG to the University’s students and familiarize them with its goals. The GTUG was first established by a group of An-Najah students that included Akram Abdel Rahman Dwaikat from the Department of Computer Engineering, Ahmed Yaqoub from the Department of Management Information Systems, and Omar Rayyan from the Department of Computer Information Systems. The GTUG’s activities are supervised and managed by Dr. Samer Arandi, Department of Computer Engineering at An-Najah.
GTUG’s main objective is to raise the students’ awareness and familiarity with the modern technologies used in the world’s leading technological companies such as Google through holding workshops and introductory meetings. The Group also contacts Google on a continuous basis to keep informed with its latest technologies especially the Android system and its features and usage.
Akram Dwaikat first welcomed the students to the meeting and delivered a presentation in which he introduced them to the GTUG and familiarized them with its activities, goals, future projects and the other Google-affiliated groups around the world whose work and objectives resemble that of the GTUG.
Siba Fiddah, a member in the GTUG, spoke about the Android operating system, its features, usage and the different applications. The Android system is a very useful system that can include a variety of applications that users can take advantage of in their daily life.
Salah Yahya also spoke about how to download the Android system package and how to start developing programming applications for this system.
