The Faculty of Fine Arts Participates in the Cultural and Art Event in Stavanger, Norway
Between January 27th and February 7th, a team of students and instructors from the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts participated in the cultural and art event that was held at Stavanger Art Society in Stavanger, Norway upon an invitation from the Municipality of Stavanger with which An-Najah University holds twinning relationships.
The team was headed by two instructors from the Faculty of Fine Arts at An-Najah, Mr. Bassam Abul Hayyat and Lina Harb. In coordination with Engineer Naseer Arafat, Coordinator of the event and member in the National Committee of Nablus Municipality, members of the team participated in the cultural week at Stavanger.
The team was received by the Stavanger Municipality’s staff, the Director of the Stavanger Art Society and a large number of people. An acrylic 8-sided mural was made by An-Najah team and was presented at the workshop. The audience expressed their admiration by the students’ work and described it as a remarkable piece of art.
As part of the workshop, an exhibition was inaugurated at the Stavanger Art Society by the Mayor of Stavanger; the inauguration was attended by a large number of people, especially from the local society, artists, as well as Arab, Palestinian and international communities. The attendants were impressed by the exhibition and the art works it displayed. An-Najah students also performed an art show that featured the Palestinian popular dance (Dabka).
The team also visited many locations in Stavanger including the city’s Art School, Stavanger Art Museum, the Art Center, the Art Society in Brenna, the Street Art Society and the city’s library.
Dr. Hasan Nairat, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, expressed his thanks to Stavanger for inviting and hosting the University’s delegation; he confirmed that the Faculty of Fine Arts will continue to build strong relationships with bodies and institutions that work in the field of fine art around the world.
