On April 28th 2010, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University inaugurated the Palestinian heritage museum in a celebration that was held at Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Theater at the New Campus. Her Excellency, Ms. Siham Barghouti, the Palestinian Minister of Culture, Dr. Hamdan Taha from the Ministry of Tourism, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, University President, Nablus Governor, Colonel Jibrin Al-Bakri, Dr. Hasan N'erat, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Kamal Zeidan, Head of the Plastic Art Department, as well as representatives of different local institutions, instructors and others attended the event.
Dr. N'erat mentioned that the idea of establishing this museum came to preserve and protect the Palestinian heritage because it constitutes a major part of Palestine's national identity. He also said that the museum included ancient and valuable artifacts that passed from generation to generation.


The event also included a distribution of awards among students who participated in Mr. Salah Al-Masri's Award for Art. This award was founded two years ago to encourage the students at the Faculty of Fine Arts to compete and reveal their skills in producing distinguished art works. Different students from the different departments of the Faculty received the award. Those included students from the department of visual art, interior design, graphic design, painting and ceramics.


After the inauguration of the museum, the Faculty of Fine Arts also opened an exhibition that contained some of the art works of the Faculty students. The exhibition was divided into several corners each of which included different art works. The first one included interior design works and projects. The second corner contained graphic design while the third included over 120 different paintings. There was also a place for visual arts that included mosaic works, metal and wooden furniture, as well as more than 45 works made of different materials. The fifth corner included ceramic works made by the Faculty students.

Ms. Barghouti expressed her admiration of the many brilliant works that the students have made and the variety of items that were displayed at the exhibition. Prof. Hamdallah also thanked the students and the 
Faculty for their distinguished efforts and works.
