On November 28th 2010, the Faculty of Engineering at the University achieved advanced scores in the Made in Palestine contest for the year 2010. According to the results that were announced recently, the University obtained the first and third ranks in all of the competition's categories.
 
From the Professionals Category, Engineer Dima Shawahneh from the Department of Computer Engineering at the University and Mr. Ibrahim El-Haj Muhammad from the Deanship of Students Affairs won the first place for their project on the medical bed for people with special needs. Their project was also incubated by the Information Technology Incubator at the University
 
 

From the Higher Studies Category, Engineers Muhammad Salah and Mais Aloul from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering respectively won the third rank for their project on cooling with solar heat. From the University Students Category, students Ashraf Mraish from the Department of Chemical Engineering won the third place for his project on transforming solid fuel into gaseous one. From the same category also, Engineers Ayat Atallah and Hayfa' Mubaraka from the Department of Chemical Engineering achieved the third rank for their project on producing insulation boards for buildings using recycled plastic and paper.
 
Dr. Mashhour Abu Daqa, the Palestinian Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, as well as Cecilia Karlstedt, Regional Manager of Diakonia-Sweden institution, participated in the inauguration of the Made in Palestine Exhibition which was organized by Alnayzak for Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation in cooperation.
 
The exhibition included a number of inventions and innovative projects made by a number of young people in the different fields of engineering, information technology, health, environment and energy. The Minister said that the Palestinian Authority is committed to supporting all kinds of scientific innovation in the country and pointed out that it also supported the Palestine Information and Communications Technology Incubator (PICTI) and the Academic Network project which aims to connect universities in the West Bank and Gaza.

The University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, congratulated the winners and thanked Alnayzak for holding this important event which he hoped to support scientific innovation and production in Palestine. On his part, Engineer Aaref Al Husseini, Founder and Director of Alnayzak, said that the institution will continue to support local youth in their quest to achieve excellence in scientific invention and work.

 The Engineering Communication Center (ECC) invited a number of students from the Faculty to attend the exhibition and share ideas and discussions with the participating students.

 It is the fifth time that Alnayzak organizes the Made in Palestine program and this year's round received more than 192 participants from the different parts of the West Bank and Gaza.
