The Faculty of Arts at An-Najah Organizes a Workshop about Land Registration in Palestine during the Ottoman Rule
The Faculty of Arts at An-Najah organized a workshop titled “Land Registration in Palestine during the Ottoman Rule” at the Martyr Zafer Al-Masri Auditoriums, Old Campus. The workshop was administered by Dr. Ameen Abu Baker, Head of the History Department at An-Najah, and was attended by a number of the Faculty’s staff and students.
Dr. Abu Baker spoke about the sources of notes in historical documentation represented in the Land Registry (Tabu), records of courts, municipalities’ books, historical maps, personal documents, field visits, journals and personal interviews. He also presented a general description about the measures used in survey and registration.
During the lecture, the participants discussed the results of survey and registration which were based on the sources of observations and measurements such as highlighting the personal property, increase in production, the establishment of 200 new villages, and the transformation of several villages into cities.
