The Engineering Communication Center Participates in the BuildEX2010

Between the 18th and 20th May 2010, the Engineering Communication Center (ECC) of the Faculty of Engineering at the University participated in the Fourth Exhibition for Construction (BuildEX2010) which was held in Al-Bireh, West Bank. Prior to the exhibition a conference was organized at the Grand Park Hotel in Ramallah which introduced the event and the participating companies.
Among those who attended the conference was Mr. Muhammad Harbawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Palestine Trade Center (PalTrade), Dr. Abdullah Al-Ifranji as a representative of President Mahmoud Abbas, Mr. Abdel Hafiz Noufal, Deputy Minister of National Economy as well as representatives of the Industries Union and the Palestinian Contractors Union.
The exhibition was organized under His Excellency, President Mahmoud Abbas, and in cooperation between the Ministry of National Economy, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Palestine Investment Fund, the Palestinian Construction Industries Union (PCIU), Palestinian Contractors Union, the Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

During the conference, Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the ECC, called upon the participants to involve the Faculty of Engineering in similar events in the future so as to give it the chance to take part in the development of industries and construction sector in Palestine. He also spoke about some of the graduation projects of students from the Faculty of Engineering and described the ECC's programs and achievements. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of investing in the field of scientific research through supporting scientific studies conducted by the students. This will lead to a greater development in the field of local construction industry and will push the national economy forward.
In the exhibition, a number of local companies that specialize in the field of stone and marble industry, iron, aluminum, doors, housing projects, pipes, construction materials, brick and tile, asphalt, concrete supplements….etc displayed their products to the visitors which reflected the degree of development that those companies have achieved.
