On July 29^th 2010, the Engineering Communication Center (ECC) of the Faculty of Engineering at the University organized a lecture for the students who are enrolled in the Introduction to Engineering and Engineering Ethics titled "Determining Goals in Life". The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rana Awwadeh, a researcher in the field of sociology. Awwadeh has a B. A. degree in sociology and a Master in urban and regional planning. She is currently involved in a number of projects that are related to women issues in Palestine.

More than 50 students from the Faculty of Engineering participated in the event. The lecture aimed to help students decide their future plans and how they are going to approach their study at the University. They were subject to a practical training and guidance through which they were trained on how to take right decisions and how to plan for their goals in order to choose the right major and the right career.

Being in their first year of academic study, students must receive guidance and assistance in choosing their major. They are in a delicate and very critical stage of their academic life and need to have advice from experts.

The lecture came as part of the Students' Competency Development Program that the University has established recently to support students and graduates and guide then through their study so as to become qualified and competent experts when they graduate and join the work market.
