August 26th 2010. The Engineering Communication Center (ECC) of the Faculty of Engineering at the University participated in the concluding workshop of the 2010 Practical Engineering Training course which included training students from the Electrical Engineering and the Communication Engineering Departments. The event was organized at Jawwal, Palestine Cellular Communications Company in Ramallah. Attendees included Dr. Jamal Khrousheh, Training Supervisor at the Electrical Engineering Department, Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the ECC, in addition to the participant students and their trainers.

Mr. Ammar Al-Aker, the Executive Director at Jawwal, mentioned that the Company, represented by its different departments including the Public Relations Department, Human Resources Department and the training officials, holds close relationships with Palestinian universities and cooperation bonds which allows for mutual benefit. He also added that Jawwal is deeply concerned with developing the experience and skills of students at the different universities in Palestine and that it would continue to support students through providing them with training courses that would sharpen their skills and build-up their practical experience.

Engineer Dwaikat thanked Jawwal on behalf of the University for organizing the training course and valued the efforts that the trainers have exerted in order to provide the trainees with advanced training and guidance. He emphasized that through providing students with practical training, they will be able to apply what they learn in the class on ground. Linking theoretical knowledge with real-life experience results in qualified engineers who are capable of transforming the society and developing its various fields. It is through connecting university students with the work market that they would become more aware of the work environment and thus become fully prepared to perform adequately and effectively when time comes.

Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University, mentioned that the Faculty of Engineering is willing to expand its relationships with Jawwal regarding the involvement of students in new programs and workshops that include the development of their personalities as well as their professional experience. He further said that students at the Faculty enjoy outstanding personalities and have limitless potentials which are considered proper foundations on which later training will depend. More than 450 students have received training inside and outside Palestine on the various fields of engineering.

Dr. Khrousheh emphasized the role that companies such as Jawwal play in order to facilitate the training of university students and mentioned that it would have been very difficult to offer any kind of practical training for them if no such companies had been available. Students received training by a number of instructors at the Faculty of Engineering including Dr. Isam Jardaneh, Dr. Ra'ed Al-Qadi, Dr. Mutasem Ba'ba and others.

The University established the Engineering Communication Center in 2010 so as to build cooperation and contact relationships to connect students with the work field and enhance their practical expertise.
