October 2nd. The Department of Nursing and Midwifery at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah University started a training course on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) which targets fourth year students at the Department. The 30-hour course was organized in coordination between Dr. Aidah Al-Kaissi, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Khaled Barham, Director of the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence at the University, and Mr. Rashid Al-Kukhun, Director of Finance at the University.

At the beginning of the course Dr. Al-Kaissi welcomed the students and spoke about the importance of scientific research especially in the field of health. She also explained that role of the SPSS software in giving research more accuracy and depth in details.

Dr. Al-Kaissi also valued the efforts of the University’s administration and the different departments to organize this course which aims to provide the students at the Faculty of Nursing with further skills and experience in their field of study.

This course seeks to help the students in their research work and analyze their data through the SPSS since scientific research is an asset for the students of nursing and midwifery. This software is among the most frequently used and most important statistical software around that can be used to analyze research data and to import and export files from and to other statistical software easily.

The SPSS has accumulated a special importance over time thanks to its numerous features that made it an indispensable tool for a large group of users, including university students and other workers in the field of scientific research. This software is also of particular importance for nursing and midwifery students since it will help them in preparing their graduation projects and assist them in their future career.
