The Department of Nursing and Midwifery at An-Najah Holds a Training Course on Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
The Department of Nursing and Midwifery at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah University organized a training course on advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation which targeted third year students at the Department.
Dr. Aidah Al-Kaissi, Head of the Nursing Department, said the course’s importance stems out from the fact that it reinforces the students’ skills and abilities to handle cardiopulmonary resuscitation to help save the patients’ life through providing oxygen through blood using. She also welcomed Mrs. Muna Al-Shalabi, Director of Nursing at the National Hospital in Nablus.
The course was administered by Dr. Al-Kaissi, who spoke about intubation, Lryngeal mask, and treatment through reduction of the patient’s body temperature to 3234 degrees after surviving a heart attack to protect the brain cells. Shorouq Qadous spoke about Defibrillation while Najwa Subuh explained intensive resuscitation of children and infants.
Mahdiya Al-Koni spoke about drugs used in intensive resuscitation whereas Dr. Rayyan Al-Ali discussed the recognition of the life-threatening Arrhythmia and how to treat it both theoretically and practically. Finally, Fatima Hirzallah spoke about the guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation both theoretical and practical.
The course also included a practical training of the students on cardiopulmonary resuscitation in case the heart stops inside or outside the hospital. The students also learned how to use the automated external defibrillator so that the student would acquire the experience and proper style to deal with cardiopulmonary cases and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
At the end of the course Dr. Al-Kaissi thanked the participants and the students for their interest in the course.
