On March 21st, under the auspices of An-Najah University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the Department of Architectural Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in cooperation with the Engineering Communication Center (ECC) at the University organized an exhibition for projects of the Department’s third year students.

The exhibition contained more than 50 different projects that were made by the students for the proposed financial center which is intended to be built in Nablus. Attendees included Dr. Nabil Dmaidi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Haitham Ratrout, Head of the Architectural Engineering Department, Dr. Iman Amad, Director of the Unit of Architectural Conservation and Reconstruction, Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the ECC, in addition to projects supervisors: Dr. Muhammad Ata, Mr. As’ad Al-Arandi, as well as Engineer Waseem Salameh. Other attendees included a number of faculty staff, students and others.

Prof. Hamdallah expressed his thankfulness for the organizers of this exhibition and valued the efforts that the Faculty of Engineering is carrying out to involve the engineering students in useful activities. He added that the University looks forward to develop and support the relationship between the Department of Architectural Engineering and the governmental and international institutions in order to develop the architectural scene in Palestine.

Dr. Dmaid on his part said the Department of Architectural Engineering that this kind of events helps students reveal their work and skills in their field of study. He added that the Palestinian youth is capable of great achievements and the kind of projects he saw at the exhibition proves this. The scale of human resources, he explained, is huge and those students are the engineers of the future who will contribute to the development and building of their future state.

Dr. Ata and Dr. Arandi mentioned that the level of the displayed projects is high and indicates the level of experience and innovation that the students possess. They called upon the Engineering Association, the Municipality, the businessmen and other institutions interested in the filed of architecture to invest in the University’s students because they have the ability and skills to come up with creative projects that could end up as real architectural works.

Engineer Dwaikat on his part thanked the organizers of the exhibition for the great efforts they exerted to make this event a success. He added that students must be given the chance to participate in extracurricular activities in addition to their academic education so as to gain the necessary experience that would help them perform perfectly and adequately in the work field.
