As part of the CSC's program to support the elderly population in Nablus, staff organized a group activity in the old city of Nablus for participants in the area. The CSC cooperated with the Multipurpose Community Resource Center, The Red Crescent and the Ministry of Social Affairs to run this activity, which is the first of what will become regular monthly events in a program called "The Golden Age." All participants discussed and shared stories over Palestinian savory pastries, sweets and tea. One of the topics of discussion was martyrdom, as many of the women have sons who died in the 2nd Intifada. Small gifts were given at the end of the meeting. This activity was made possible by donations from the Good Will Forum. The event was a success as it gave people a chance to come together and change their daily routine. Next month an elderly woman promised to make 'mujeddara,' a Palestinian dish of rice and lentils for the group and another plans to recite poetry that she has written.
