On the occasion of the International Day of the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IASTE) the IASTE’s Branch at An-Najah University organized an introductory meeting at the New Campus for the University students. Attendees included: Dr. Riyad Abdel Kareem, Director of the IASTE’s Branch, Dr. Abdel Raheem Abu Safa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Amer Al-Hammouz, Director of the Practical Training Center at the University, Mr. Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the Engineering Communication Center, Joao Fonseca, a Portuguese student who receives training at the University, in addition to University students.

 At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Hammouz gave a presentation about the Center explaining that it seeks to fulfill the University’s objectives in accordance with its philosophy. It also aims to achieve coordination between the different academic and administrative departments at the University and establishing cooperation ties with the public and private institutions inside and outside Palestine.

In the same context, Dr. Al-Hammouz said that building the students’ self-confidence in their abilities, developing the solutions for the problems that they might encounter at work, and equipping them with leadership and communication skills are among the many skills that a trainee learns at the Center.

Dr. Adel Kareem presented a summary of the IASTE’s program, its establishment and the major academic goals of the IASTE; he also explained that the IASTE works on training the students academically through providing them with training opportunities at related institutions especially in the field of language.
