On November 2^nd 2010, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, received in his office at the Old Campus His Excellency Mr. Geert Cockx, Consul General at the Consulate General of Belgium in Jerusalem. Attendees included Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Mr. Rasheed Al-Kukhun, Director of Finance at the University's Department of Finance.

 

In the meeting, Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the Consul to the University and valued his honorable visit to Nablus. He also introduced the Consul to the University and the many aspects and phases of development it went through over the last years.

 

He also familiarized the guest with the different faculties and specializations that the University has as well as the role that it plays in serving the local society. Prof. Hamdallah praised the support that Belgium continuously provides to the Palestinian National Authority in many fields of life, particularly higher education. He also emphasized the University's commitment to the development of joint relationships with Belgian universities which would greatly support and reinforce cooperation bonds between Palestine and Belgium.

 

On his part, Mr. Cockx expressed his pleasure to visit the University and meet with Prof. Hamdallah. He also assured the Consulate's commitment to encouraging mutual cooperation and understanding between people of both countries, especially with respect to academic exchange and education.

 

After the meeting, Mr. Cockx visited the New Campus where he was introduced to its new facilities and infrastructure which he described as an indicator of the degree of development that the University has achieved over the years.
