On April 21st, the American Studies Resource Center at An-Najah University organized a seminar titled “Palestinian Letters to America” at the Conference Room, Old Campus Library in cooperation with the United States Consulate General in Jerusalem.

The seminar was lectured by Dr. Irum Sheikh from the U.S. Consulate General; attendees included students and faculty staff from the different faculties at the University.

Dr. Ayman Nazzal, Director of the American Studies Resource Center, first welcomed the guest to An-Najah and emphasized the importance of such meetings between local students and international guests which help expand the students’ knowledge and experience regarding various issues.

During the seminar, Dr. Sheikh listened to the students’ opinions and impressions toward the United States especially English majors. In the seminar also, the students told their stories and described the situations they had gone through under occupation; the seminar also focused on helping these students write certain letters to be sent to the United States regarding their life and suffering under the Israeli occupation.

Dr. Sheikh discussed with the students the many difficulties they face in their daily life because of the Israeli practices and violations of their rights. She also answered their questions regarding the seminar’s topic.
