The 1st Scientific Sport Conference Held at An-Najah
Under the auspice of Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the University President, the 1st Scientific Sport Conference was held today at HRH Prince Turki Bin Abdul Azeez Theater at the New Campus of An-Najah National University under the title “Towards Building an Integrative Strategy to Develop Palestinian Sport”.

The conference was attended by Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the University President, H.E. Jamal Muhesin, the Governor of Nablus, Mr. Mussa Abu Zaid, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Dr. Abdul Nasser Qadomi, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Mrs. Sana’ Jarrar, Representative of the Olympic Committee, Mrs. Yasmin Shahroor, Acting Director of Public Relations Department at An-Najah, representatives of youth and sport organizations, representatives of local governmental institutions and a number of students and academics of the Faculty of Physical Education.
In his speech, Prof. Rami Hamdallah welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of holding this conference to serve the sport community in Palestine. He stated that sport is important in educating generations and that the university has always worked hard to elevate the level of Palestinian sport. In this regard, it has taken important steps as establishing the Faculty of Physical Education. He said that the university did it best is supporting sport as it has established Sport Complex in the new campus.
On his turn, H. E. Mr. Muhesin described An-Najah as a landmark for Palestine. He emphasized its restless efforts in supporting the community needs and especially those of Palestinian sports. He urged participants in the conference to discuss important points as establishing the infrastructure for Palestinian sport and providing the needed budgets to sponsor it.
Mr. Zaid, stressed the role of the University in establishing the first Faculty of Physical education. “We feel proud of what An-Najah has accomplished in the fields of sports.” He said that the Ministry will work hard to implement the recommendations of this conference within available potentials”.
Mrs. Jarrar thanked the University for its efforts in supporting Palestinian sports. In his remarks, the Dean of the faculty of Physical Education thanked all those who made efforts to make it work out and he wished that the Palestinian sport will reach the phase of competition on international levels. On later sessions, a number of papers were discussed on different issues of sport in Palestine.
