The implications of the Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing were the main topics discussed at the University under the patronage of the Ministry of Education. The Environmental Studies Program and Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of Al-Quds University, as well as the Geography Department of An-Najah National University and the University of Marn Lavelle in France participated in the symposium.
The presentations focused on exploring digital and optical remote sensing data for a land cover mapping of the West Bank. The importance of the GIS together with its implications in Palestine were analyzed and a presentation was given on remote radar sensing and various image processing techniques.
