A three-day-seminar workshop on "the development strategies" for city of Jenin in the West Bank is organized by the  Ministry of Local Governance, the Ministry of Planning, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and An-Najah National University between 4th- 6th March 2008 in Nablus.
An-Najah is providing consultancy service to the project in the areas of sustainable human development where it has developed special knowledge and expertise.  The three-day event attracts over 50 representatives from the governmental and non-governmental agencies in the city of Jenin.  Participants will present to a group of local officials and stakeholders the highlights of their development programs, key findings, and recommendations.
Dr. Ahamd Ramhei, Project's Coordinator, said that the seminar focuses on the role of the government, local community, and donors in the development strategies for the city of Jenin through integrating the different drivers, factors and enablers of local economic development, alignment with wider local and national frameworks.  It also supports capacity building in local development strategy, design and implementation.
Dr. Ramhei added that the seminar workshop creates an ideal opportunity to enhance partnerships, present shared challenges and propose strategies for undertaking the strategy development and the investment planning in the city of Jenin.  "The seminar workshop will identify priority needs and opportunities for capacity building and sustained participation in various development programs of the city of Jenin, particularly those related to poverty reduction.  It will identify areas of cooperation that will support the objectives of economic development and sustainable human development in the city of Jenin," he said.
