In a collaborative effort between the University and Shashat, a Palestinian NGO focussing on woman’s cinema, the Third Woman Film Festival ended with the last showing in the auditorium of the University to those interested in culture, cinema, journalism, media and arts. The festival lasted for one week and included films from a diverse group of countries, such as the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Turkey, Germany, China and Egypt.
Audiences expressed their gratitude for the organization of this cultural event in the city of Nablus, which has been suffering for seven years under an imposed siege. Shashat organized this festival in four Palestinian cities: Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Nablus. Shashat organizes such festivals in order to focus on Women’s cinema and the social and cultural implications of the way women are represented.
