Researcher Nash’at Nassar, of the Chemical Engineering Department, was recognized by the Chemical Engineering College of Calgary University, Canada for his unique research in the field of Nanotechnology. The research focused on the preparation of metal oxide nano-particles and their possible applications in the fields of power and environment.

One year ago Mr. Nassar, a graduate of An-Najah National University, joined the PhD program in the Chemical Engineering College of Calgary University. He was sent by the university to McGill University in Montreal to obtain his Masters degree in 2003; he then returned to the university where he worked as an instructor in the Chemical Engineering Department. Following this, he then joined Calgary University for their PhD program; during this period he attended several conferences and seminars about designing equipment and factories whilst preparing a lot of research for his major.

Nassar said that getting this prize from the Canadian Institute (NSERC) will allow him to open new fields and studies in scientific research; he added that he will hopefully present his research to the European Conference to be held in Spain this year and the Chemical Engineering Conference in Canada.
Nassar added that an annual conference takes place at Calgary University to encourage young researchers and to stimulate their scientific achievements in order to obtain their doctoral degrees in all fields of engineering. After presenting their debates at the conference, the different research papers will each be evaluated to decide whether or not to award the candidates their PhD, be they from Canada or students from other countries including Palestine, Nigeria, Sweden, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Latin America and others.
Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the University President, congratulated the students and the professors of the Chemical Engineering Department. He described the award as proof of the continuous development and success An-Najah is achieving.
