Mr. Nael Salman, the coordinator of the UN-Habitat Program in the West Bank, visited the university where he met Dr. Sulaiman Khalil, Co-coordinator of the Scientific Centers at the university; Dr. Ali Abed Al-Hameed, Director of the Urban and Regional Planning (CURP) Center and Mr. Abdallah Samara, Director of the Marketing Department. Mr Abdallah Samara had also attended a training course organized by the UN-Habitat Program in Al-Ismailiya City, Egypt from 13-26th May to rehabilitate and train workers and heads of Palestinian Municipalities.
In the meeting various mutually co-operative projects were discussed between the university and the UN program; particularly concentrating on the area of training local municipalities’ staff and councils under the supervision of Palestinian universities. Also discussed was the formation of a high committee to supervise the training, including the Local Governing Ministry, Universities and the union of local authorities for the UN-Habitat Program.
