Razan Salem Abu Khaizaran the First Student to become the President of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations IFMSA
Razan Abu Khaizaran, fourth year student at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah, won the annual elections of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) in which 88% of the IFMSA members participated.
Twenty four students competed for 16 different posts in the administrative board and the leader committees at the Federation; the results were as follows:
Razan Abu Khaizaran as President of the IFMSA, Rima Ghanem as Vice President for External Affairs, Khairi Shalhoub as Vice President for Internal Affairs, Hanin Rabi’ as the Federation's Secretary, Salam Al-Atabeh as the Financial Director of the Federation, Hidaya Al-Haj as Project Coordinator, Mahdi Al-Jamal as Head of the Refugees and Human Rights Committee, Reem Sawafta as Head of the Public Safety Committee, Nidal Abu Khaizaran as Head of the Student Exchange Committee, Omar Yaish as Head of the Scientific Research Exchange Committee, Lubna Malhis as Head of the Reproductive Health Committee, Ali Tuffaha as Head of the Medical Education Committee, Sami Abu Ghazala as Head of the Training Unit, Wasef Al-Sayeh as Director of the Social and Cultural Activities, Muhammad Abu Al-Su’ud as Head of the Publications Unit, and finally Fareed Riziq as the person in charge of the database and information technology.
After the announcement of the results, Razan Abu Khaizaran expressed her happiness for the achievement that she and her colleagues have achieved and thanked the committee that supervised the elections for its efforts.
She also spoke about the future work plan that she and her colleagues are going to adopt on the local and international levels. Prior to her new post, Abu Khaizaran has worked as vice president for internal affairs at the IFMSA last year.
Dr. Waleed Basha, the IFMSA’s Supervisor at the University, congratulated the students on this achievement and valued the efforts of the supervising committee which consisted of Omar Abu Zaideh, Nimer Abu Shihab, Ahmed Mdallal, Razan Al-Haj and Ghina Abu Aideh.
