Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah University, received in his office Engineer Marwan Abdel Hamid, President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, and the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Engineers Union. Attendees also included Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah, and Dr. Jalal Dabbeek, Coordinator of the Scientific Centers at the University.

In the meeting Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the guest to the University and congratulated him on his success in the presidency elections in the Federation. He also discussed with Abdel Hamid the possible cooperation prospects between the two institutions. He added that the Faculty of Engineering at An-Najah is which has a variety of programs and study fields, and said that An-Najah engineering students are now competing on the international level.

Furthermore, the President pointed out that Palestinian universities have strong expertise and qualified staff that can offer unique things to the World Federation and explained that the University has several scientific centers that operate in the field of engineering.

In return, Engineer Abdel Hamid thanked Prof. Hamdallah for the hospitality and presented a description about the World Federation which includes approximately 92 engineering association around the world. The World Federation was established in 1968 under the sponsorship of the UNECO. He also explained that the Federation works through 15 specialized committees in the fields of energy, capacity building, information technology and communication.

In the meeting also, the two sides discussed the possible future cooperation in the different fields of engineering. Abdel Hamid’s visit also included another meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at An-Najah, several Heads of Engineering Departments, as well as Dr. Jalal Dabbeek, Coordinator of the Scientific Centers at An-Najah.

The guest also visited the Faculty of Engineering and its various facilities and departments. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Hamdallah presented Engineer Abdel Hamid with the University’s Shield in appreciation of his efforts and contribution.
