June 21st. Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah National University, received in his office at the Old Campus the Secretary General of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HE Sheikh Ahmad Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Football Association, HE Sheikh Ali Bin Khalif Al Khalifa, in addition to the accompanying delegation.

Attendees included Nablus Governor, Brigadier Jibrin Al-Bakri, Mrs. Anan Attireh, Deputy Governor,  Mr. Husam Dabbas, Director of the Public Relations Department at Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian National Authority’s Office in Ramallah, in addition to a delegation from the Presidency Office in Ramallah and another one from the Nablus Governorate.

From An-Najah University attendees included: Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sa’ed Al-Koni, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations Department at the University, as well as Mr. Mousa Abu Dayyeh, Dean of Students Affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their honorable visit to An-Najah. He also valued the interest of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting the Palestinian people in various fields of life and hoped to have multiple academic cooperation relationships between An-Najah and other universities in Bahrain.

Moreover, the President gave a summary about the University since its first establishment until today and explained the leading educational role it plays to educate the Palestinians and prepare a generation of qualified human cadres to work inside as well as outside Palestine. He also described the work that the University-based scientific centers carry out to serve the society with respect to various areas of life. Then, a short documentary was displayed which summarized the University’s history and development.

HE Sheikh Al Khalifa stressed the relationship between people of Bahrain and Palestine and said his visit to Palestine was meant to convey a lot of messages to the Palestinians; it was not only a visit to discuss sport-related issues, but it also aimed to express the solidarity of the people of Bahrain toward the Palestinians and their cause. He also thanked An-Najah University President and his staff for their efforts in serving the educational field in Palestine.

At the end of the visit, Prof. Hamdallah presented the University’s Shield to HE Sheikh Ahmad Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HE Sheikh Ali Bin Khalif Al Khalifa in appreciation of their visit to An-Najah and in recognition of their efforts in serving sport in the Arab world.
