Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah University, received in his office at the Old Campus a number of local and international delegations and guests including Mr. Michael Harvey, Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Palestine, and introduced to him the latest developments An-Najah has achieved recently and in various fields. He also described the progress that is being achieved with respect to the Teaching Hospital which will represent a substantial contribution to medicine in Palestine. Moreover, both sides discussed the prospects of mutual cooperation between the University and the USAID.

Mr. Harvey emphasized the USAID’s interest in continuing to support many programs that are implemented in Palestine in the different related fields. Mr. Harvey’s visit came as part of the graduation ceremony of the teachers who participated in the professional development program in Nablus and Jenin which was implemented by the Model Schools Network at the AMIDEAST (MSN) in partnership with An-Najah; 120 teachers from 14 governmental schools successfully graduated from the program. The MSN Program is focused on developing a school improvement network that will serve as a model for basic education in Palestine.

Prof. Hamdallah also received Professor Tawfeeq Al-Tirawi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees the Palestinian Academy for Security Sciences (Al-Istiqlal University), and discussed with him the prospects of mutual cooperation in the academic field. Professor Al-Tirawi thanked Prof. Hamdallah for his great support of higher education in Palestine; he also visited the Media Center and expressed admiration by the different advanced units it has and the level of professionalism it achieved.

Furthermore, Prof. Hamdallah received Mrs. Umm Ali Hammad, Honorary president of the Palestinian Community in London, and praised her efforts in supporting the Palestinian community in the United Kingdom, as well as her contribution to charity work that helps many Palestinians living in Europe. She also visited the different facilities in the New Campus and expressed admiration by the academic and architectural advancement that the University has achieved.
