On July 7th, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah National University, received in his office at the Old Campus a high Jordanian parliamentary delegation headed by Yahya Sa’ud, Member in the Jordanian Parliament and Chairman of Palestine Committee in the Jordanian House of Representatives. Attendees included Brigadier Jibrin Al-Bakri, Nablus Governor, and Mrs. Anan Attireh, Nablus Deputy Governor, as well as Dr. Sa’ed Al-Koni, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Mohmmad Hanoon, Vice President for Community Affairs, and Dr.
On July 7th, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah National University, received in his office at the Old Campus a high Jordanian parliamentary delegation headed by Yahya Sa’ud, Member in the Jordanian Parliament and Chairman of Palestine Committee in the Jordanian House of Representatives. Attendees included Brigadier Jibrin Al-Bakri, Nablus Governor, and Mrs. Anan Attireh, Nablus Deputy Governor, as well as Dr. Sa’ed Al-Koni, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Hanoon, Vice President for Community Affairs, and Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.

The delegation consisted of a number of members in the Jordanian House of Representatives including: Lutfi Hasanin, Akef Muqbel, Saleh Darwish, Abdullah Nwairat, Ghazi Al-Musharbash, Radian Al-Ati, Khairallah Hussein Taha, Fathyya Abu Saleem, and Mohammad Al-Hjuj.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the guests to the University and stressed the relationships between the Palestinian and Jordanian people. He also thanked His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan for his continuous support of the Palestinians in their quest to achieve freedom and independence.

The President then presented a summary about the University in which he described the various academic study fields that it offers to students, and explained the leading role that An-Najah plays in developing the educational process in Palestine. He also familiarized the guests with the University’s regional and international status and the many ranks it has received recently.

A short documentary was displayed which described the University’s history, development as well as the architectural development that it has witnessed over the last years. The documentary also described the many scientific centers the University has which offer a wide array of services to the local society in different fields of life.

Sa’ud thanked the President for his hospitality and hoped that An-Najah would continue to develop in the future. He also pointed out King Abdullah’s support of the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to gain independence and freedom. Moreover, he stressed the strong solidarity of the Jordanians with their brothers in Palestine.

A number of members in the Jordanian Parliament said they value the efforts of An-Najah University in preparing qualified staff and experts in various fields of life who would be ready to contribute to the development of their country.

After the meeting, the delegation met with a number of students from the Political Sciences Department at An-Najah and discussed several issues related to Palestine, Jordan and the region in general.
