Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah University, praised the students and graduates of Engineering at An-Najah for their great achievement in the “Made in Palestine” competition which was organized by Al-Nayzak Organization for Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation in Palestine.

Three Engineering graduates from An-Najah won the first place in the Honored Professionals Category. An-Najah Engineering students also won the second place in the Universities’ Students Category and the third place in the Professionals Category.

Prof. Hamdallah expressed his pride of what the students and graduates have achieved in the Competition saying that this success indicates the level of development the University has reached and its local and international excellence. He also congratulated the Faculty of Engineering and staff on this achievement.

The successful participation of An-Najah students provides a proof to their creative work and innovative ideas that enabled them to bring to light some great projects in the different fields of engineering.

In the Professionals Category, first place went to Abdel Raheem Abu Saleh, Ra’ed Hijjawi and Nuhannad Al-Qutub from the Department of Electrical Engineering at An-Najah for their project “The Intelligent House and Field”.  Ayman Arandi, a graduate from the Department of Computer Engineering, won the third place in the same category on his project “Hello Palestine”.

In the Universities’ Students Category, the “Producing Lactic Acid from Cheese Serum Biologically” by Muntaha Khader and Muhammad Shtayyeh from the Department of Chemical Engineering.

More than 250 participants joined the Competition this year 40 of who were qualified to the final stage of the Competition after completing several stages of training that targeted their personal, business and technical skills.

An-Najah also participated in the Judge Committee through Dr. Maher Hammouz and Dr. Samer Mayyaleh who were honored by His Excellency Dr. Salam Fayyad, Palestinian Prime Minister, and Al-Nayzak Organization. Dr. Allam Mousa was also honored for his efforts in establishing the Electricity and Electronics Engineers Society.

Participants in the Competition from An-Najah included Dr. Abdel Raheem Abu Safa, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Engineer Muhammad Dwaikat, Director of the Engineering Communication Center, Dr. Husni Odeh, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Mr. Shadi Sawalha, in addition to 70 students from the Faculty.

The “Made in Palestine” Competition is a pioneer program that aims to link Palestinian innovators inside and outside universities with the business and industry sectors. It seeks to provide real solutions to technological and scientific problems in Palestine and the Arab world. The essence of the competition lies in offering Palestinian innovators the chance to achieve their aspirations, which could in turn, lead to practical results in the development of new local products of tangible marketing value.
