Prof. Rami Hamdallah is Reelected as a Member in the Board of Directors of UNIMED
In the General Assembly of July 8th held in Lecce, Italy, a new Board of Directors of the UNIMED was appointed whereby several changes have been made, including the reelection of Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah National University, as a member in the UNIMED’s Board of Directors.

According to the principle of alternation, established in the Statute approved in Tunis in October 2008, for which the charge of President must be covered from time to time by a rector of one of the two shores of the Mediterranean basin, after the Presidency of the Rector of the University of Tunis, Prof. Abderraouf Mahbouli, for the charge of President of the Board of Directors, it has been appointed Prof. Domenico Laforgia, President of the University of Salento, Lecce. While Prof. Hossam Mohamed El Kamel, President of the University of Cairo, as Vice President of the Board of Directors.
The Board consists of members representing presidents of several universities including the University of Salento in Lecce, the University of Cairo in Egypt, the University of Paris 8 Vincennes St. Denis, France, the University of Rabat in Morocco, the University of Algiers in Algeria, the University of La Sapienza, Rome, Italy, the University of Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria, the University of Molise in Italy, the University of Barcelona in Spain, An-Najah National University in Nablus, Palestine, the University of Athens in Greece, the University of Tunis, Tunisia, the University of Holy Spirit in Lebanon, Evora University in Portugal and others.
The UNIMED was established in 1991 and consists of 84 different members representing various Euro-Mediterranean universities. This network of universities aims to reinforce cooperation between member universities in the field of scientific research, cultural exchange, health, environment and information technology. It also seeks to develop relationships between Euro-Mediterranean universities with respect to academic and research exchange.
