Prof. Hamdallah Receives a Canadian Delegation
On April 6th, An-Najah University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, receive in his office at the Old Campus a Canadian delegation that consisted of Mr. Chris Greenshield, Canada Representative for the Palestinian National Authority, and Mr. David Mellon, President of the Canadian Center for Development Studies which is one of the leading Canadian institutions in the field of information exchange between Canada and the world.
Attendees included: Professor Ghassan Saffarini, Dean of Scientific Research at An-Najah, and Dr. Sam Alfoqahaa, Director of the Public Relations at the University. Prof. Hamdallah first welcomed the delegation and valued their visit to the University emphasizing the importance of the cooperation and friendship between An-Najah and several Canadian universities. He added that An-Najah supports cooperation programs that aim to bringing people from different culture together and said the University is concerned with strengthening its cooperation with the different academic and educational institutions in Canada.
Prof. Hamdallah also stressed the importance of building and developing the academic and research relationships between An-Najah and the various Canadian universities in the field of scientific research and exchange of experts in different specializations. He explained that An-Najah holds strong relationships with many developed countries around the world.
On this part, Mr. Greenshield expressed his pleasure to be at An-Najah University and took the chance to praise the role that this university plays in developing the Palestinian society through providing it with qualified cadres and human resources. He also stressed the importance of tightening the relationships between An-Najah and the different Canadian universities.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mellon underlined the importance of cooperation and scientific and research exchange between An-Najah and Canadian universities and called for the creation of joint research projects between the two sides. He also highlighted the importance of the exchange of academic experiences between Canada and Palestine and to conduct joint scientific research and studies.
During the meeting, a documentary film was displayed which described the University’s history, development, its focus on scientific research, as well as its different specializations and the network of scientific centers it has which offer a wide spectrum of services to the local society.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the New Campus that included the Media Center and the Faculty of Fine Arts. Mr. Ayman Al-Nimer, Director of the Media Center, gave a summary about the Center and the role it plays in serving the Palestinian media sector and training journalists and media men. Dr. Hasan N’erat, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, described to the guests the various specializations that the Faculty offers to students and the different programs it carries out locally.
