An-Najah University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah received in his office this morning Mr. Martin Day- Spokesperson of the British Government, British Consul General Mr. Richard Makepeace, Mr. John Hare- Political Consul, and Mr. Fadi Adeeb- Press Officer at the British Consulate General in Jerusalem. The meeting was also attended by President Assistant for International & Strategic Affairs.<o:p></o:p>

The visit is a continuation of mutual cooperation between the British Consulate General and An-

Najah National University in various projects and activities. The visit also coincided with the announcement of the Thompson Foundation Inquirer Award winner for this year, where Ms. Majdouleen Hassouneh, a student from An-Najah University won the prize. <o:p></o:p>

The Thompson Foundation conducts training workshops on an annual basis in neighbouring countries through the use of audible and visual media, using An-Najah University as a venue for this type of training. The workshop culminates in a competition in which a prize is awarded for the best media performance. This year, two winners from Palestine won the prize: Ms. Majdouleen Hassouneh from An-Najah University and Mr. Ala’ Badarneh from the European Photographing Agency, where they were both honoured in a ceremony that took place at the Conference Room of An-Najah Library Building.<o:p></o:p>

As part of the progromme of the visit, Mr. Martin Day was interviewed by An-Najah Radio; he spoke about various issues of concern to the region as well as UK’s foreign policy in the different fields.
