Prof. Hamdallah highlights the need for disaster management and emergency preparedness programs in Palestine
Prof. Rami Hamdallah, the University's president, emphasized the urgent need to provide training and consulting services that enhance the performance of Palestinian organizations and agencies working in disaster management and humanitarian assistance. He added that it is very essential to assist our local communities in developing and maintaining emergency preparedness programs and the necessary resources for disaster management.
Speaking to the participants in the training program about "disaster management" organized by the University's Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center, in the presence of Dr. Jamal Muhesin, the Governor of Nablus, Prof. Hamdallah highlights that the training program builds awareness and necessary skills and professionalism needed to develop and implement policies, plans, and procedures in emergency operations situations.
Operational personnel from various disciplines and sectors such as Palestinian police, Nablus Municipality, Ministry of Public Works, and Palestinian Red Crescent benefited from the said training program. The training program has been designed for personnel who fill specific positions in their community to act at times of natural disasters.
