President of Cyprus University visits An-Najah
Prof. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah National University, received today in his office in the Old Campus, Dr. Stavros Zenios, President of Cyprus University, and discussed the potentials of academic cooperation between the two universities. The meeting was attended by University President’ Assistant for International Affairs, Mrs. Yasmin Shahroor, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department, and Mr. Steve Roy from the University’s International Relations Office.

Prof. Hamdallah welcomed the guest and emphasized the University’s interest in developing its international relations network to promote regional and international academic cooperation. He pointed out that the University has taken important several steps in this arena, and has established a network of cooperation agreements with many international universities, especially in Europe.
He also clarified that the University is always interested in developing its relations with Cyprus University in the context of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation framework. He also valued the historic relations between Palestine and Cyprus and the need to develop focusing on academic cooperation. President Hamdallah also gave a brief introduction on the University’s history and its role in developing the academic and educational process in Palestine.
On his turn, Dr. Zenios expressed his delight for his first visit to An-Najah University, and pointed out that the academic cooperation is important and vital for the development of academic and scientific between universities through the exchange of experiences as well as the exchange of students and faculty members. He also mentioned that Cyprus University is working in areas related to the development of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation and academic exchange programs.
During the meeting, an agreement of cooperation was signed between the two universities focusing on enhancing academic cooperation and scientific research through exchanging information and publications and organizing the mutual activities between academic members and students.
After the meeting, the guest was taken on a tour in the New Campus where he visited the Faculty of Physical Education and HRH Prince Turki Bin Abdul-Aziz Theater. He also met with Dr. Saed Alkoni, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and was briefed on the Faculty’s programs. He also met with a number of the MA students majoring in MBA, in the presence of Dean Graduates Studies, Dr. Muhammad Abu Ja’afar, in which cooperation between MBA students at An-Najah and their counterparts at Cyprus University was discussed.
