On July 23^rd 2010, His Excellency, President Mahmoud Abbas, delivered his congratulations to the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, on the new ranking that the University has received from the Ranking Web of World Universities (Webometrics) on Monday, July 19^th 2010. According to Webometrics, the University has attained the first place in Palestine, fifth in the Arab world and number 1160 worldwide from among 20,000 universities.

President Abbas mentioned in his letter that such an achievement indicates that Palestinians are strong willed and can achieve what seems to others as difficult. It is an outstanding success in light of the challenges and difficult situation which makes every Palestinian proud and confident that education in Palestine is moving on the right path towards the development of the society and the individual.

He further thanked the University's administration and staff for their hard work and dedication which made such a success possible. He said that he valued the efforts that the employees, particularly teachers, have put into benefiting the students and pushing the educational process in Palestine forward.

He finally stated that he hoped that the University will continue achieving remarkable positions in the future and become one of the leading educational institutions, not only on the local and regional level, but also on the international level.
